Last Cub Master Night

Cari saying thanks
I wanted this picture because there is a picture of my Grandma and uncle with them posing in a salute just the same. I will have to find it and post it next to this.
This picture was originally of Trevor and me, but the "me" part looked really bad!! -- So here he is --Webelos extrordinaire!! Trevor doesnt always smile for pics so I really like this of him.

This past Wednesday was my last pack Meeting as Cub Master. I got a new calling and was sustained this past Sunday that will keep me associated with the scouting program but not as directly. I may not ever get out of Primary! I think it must be stamped on my forehead! Anyhow, in some amazing twist of fate the Stake has asked me to be the 1st Counselor in the Stk Primary. Thank you to many of you local readers who have already supported me in this endeavor! I was and am a little overwhelmed but I have a wonderful President and 2nd Counselor to work with as well as the board. I hope to be set apart tomorrow. So - wish me luck. It will start getting very busy very fast with ward conferences, Stake Aux. training, Stk Achievement Day Girls Day conference, Primary Sacrament Programs, Etc Etc. The kicker was that I thought I was DONE with Day Camp - but the Stk Primary usually helps with registration. Oh Well!

I think I will miss the cubmaster thing - a little - maybe--although it will be interesting to sit in the audience as a parent. Trevor will be in there until late June. He actually received quite a few Webelos pins on Wed. He has been working hard this summer when we went on all of our camping trips. Great job Trevor!

Going to the Dogs

Several of my blogging friends have new puppies so I thought I would post these pics of our dogs. They are especially cute when they are sleeping! Misty and Odie are great. We really love them. They like to lay or sit on this chair and wait for the kids or Todd, or me probably to come home. I will admit that sometimes they get rowdy and get into stuff. It does get easier as they get through that first year. We recommend West Highland Terriers!

Crazy Tornado Weather

It has been raining a lot lately - much more than usual. Several times we have had tornado watches and warnings. However, yesterday there were 3 tornadoes that set down in Castle Rock! It made the national news and my mother called me before I even realized what was going on. We didnt actually see them from our house, but apparently they were within a couple miles from us! I guess there was no damage luckily. I didnt take this picture - but this was seen by people VERY close to where we live. Crazy. I was actually in a huge tornado when I was living in Texas as a child. It was bad.

Trevor's Fish

Last week we finally ate Trevor's fish that he caught at Silver Creek, It had been in the freezer. He was so excited to do the whole thing himself getting it ready and putting it on the grill. he was so funny!!

Girls Day Out

Not sure how I took the above - freaky! the others below I edited.

Christen and I had fun together today. We slept in a bit and then went to a Baby Shower Brunch for my friend Cindy. It was at Mimi's cafe and it was fun to visit with all of the ward ladies. They have great omlets and muffins! Good luck Cindy! -Hope everything goes smoothly!

We were super close to Brunswick Zone so Christen and I went bowling with 2 free game coupons. It happened to be Cosmic Bowling, which I have never done before. I wasnt sure if all of that would be distracting but I actually played a good game -and so did Christen. A little known fact about me is that I actually took a bowling class with my friends at BYU ions ago. It was great fun!

When we got home we went on a bike ride. We were going to ride to the pool but it started thundering. Bummer. Todd and the boys got home fine. I will post that later. I was sure that they spent the whole night in the rain because that was how it was here but they lucked out I guess.

A great day

Wow -- I am being cosistent! -- Wont always happen like this.

I had a great day. I got the kids off to school and laughed for awhile at the Anita Renfroe clips. Then I went to the temple. I actually like going by myself. I have more time to concentrate and contemplate. The grounds are always so beautiful I wish that I had brought my camera because it was different that even a few months ago. Anyhow. I did see a woman that I admire so much and have the utmost respect for. I actually knew that she was going with some of her own ward friends. I had set up to meet her after and talk about some Primary/ scout stuff. It was so peaceful to be there and then so nice to spend some time with Diane.

When I got home Brandon and I went to the grocery store - a much needed trip -- and we got to visit. It has been nice to have some alone time with him before the other two come home. He is adjusting fine to the new school but the first few days were kind of rough. Mainly meeting new kids. He had 2 friends that he knew on his team. I told him that he had to meet someone new each day and report back to me - which he has done.

At 5 PM Todd and I had made a date to meet to go to the Taste of Douglas County together. They have it at the fairgrounds and probably 30 or more restaurants come in to bring samples of their foods. You just walk around from place to place eating all varieties of stuff form ribs and pizza, to steak and chocolate (not mixed) It has to be fun!!

Anyway, it was nice to be together for a while. We have really started enjoying our short cheap outings together just to visit. Todd had band practice after that and Brandon and I did pre -Algebra homework. It is a fairly early for me but I think I will read for awhile and go to bed. Todd and the boys are going on a 14er camping/hiking trip tomorrow afternoon so it is just Christen and me this weekend.

If you just need a laugh

OK So now I am just on a roll. - (See below post) If you need a break from your life take a moment and sit and laugh for awhile. It is healthy to laugh! Let me know what you think. You will recognize one of them at least. It was sent around alot a year or so ago. Anita Renfroe is the best! She is a Christian singer, comedian, motivational speaker and writer. I have read several of her books and love them too.

So take a moment - my gift to you! Thinking of you all my good friends!!

Love Lisa

Todd's aspirations!

Here is Todd's newest hero! You HAVE to check this out!! Let us know if you think he has a chance!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z0-slteflA

Here is Brandons version. Sorry it is sideways!

At the bottom of my list . . .

Ok - Think of one of the worst sounds you can think of. I had to go to the dentist yesterday for 2 fillings. I usually handle that ok. However, the last time they did some fillings they could not get me numbed up enough! Even after like 3 shots - and I still was tensed up the ENTIRE time. So, I survived that barely at the beginning of the summer. Yesterday I was plenty numb but that sound of teeth being drilled - MY TEETH - is THE WORST! I am a pretty good sport about things like dentist visits but you always forget how horrible it sounds. Next time I will bring my I POD. Hopefully, there wont be a next time for a long while!. My teeth are not horrible but I do have my fair share of fillings. The kicker too is that when I left there I was etirely numb and lopsided and had to run a few errunds, feeling like I was drooling or nose running. Then after the the numbness wore off I felt some rough areas so I had to go back in the afternoon. And to think that some adults dont even have any cavities. Well, good for you!

Raindrops keep falling. . .

It has been so dry lately that there was significant concern about not having rain. -Fires, dry lawns etc. Well - now we have had it!! It has rained all day Thurs night, Friday and Saturday and probably today too. They say that we have made up for whatwe lacked in rain this year.
It has actually been refreshing even though I had my merchandishing jobs to do on Friday and was out in the rain most of the day. I can't believe that we are coming up on fall, but now it is starting to feel like it with 50 - 60 degree weather.
It is great weather to watch the Olympics! Loving it! You go USA!

First Day of School

So -- here we go -- another school year. Hard to believe. We have had a great summer. The kids had a great day. I was the most worried about Brandon. This was a big change for him. Funny as it sounds, even getting on the bus as a "regular" was a new thing. I was so worried about him through the day. He ended up doing just fine of course. He has several friends on his bus, in several classes and a few to sit with during lunch.

Trevor and Christen had a good day too. Most of it was familiar to them with teachers that we have had before and friends in their classes that they are happy to have.

I had a nice first day back - going to exercise and then visiting and having lunch with my good friend Leslie. Maybe I will clean the house tomorrow . . .

Cubs in the Parade

Our Pack was invited to join in on the parade this past Saturday. We had 12 boys and it was really fun. --A bit warm but it was a great experience for the kids. Some of the boys were holding a huge American flag and the others were tossing candy and pulling the pack wagon that Trevor and Josh help me with. I cant think of a time where I have actually been in a parade - (nope -I was never a rodeo queen or anything ha ha) so that was fun to do. Brandon and Todd were a huge help to me being there and supporting so much.

Trombone Choir

Another of Todd's performances - this one included the Trombone choir. There are 5 of them. Todd is second to the left. That same night they had some salsa music from another band and dance instruction --until it started to downpour! Then it cleared enought for Todd's band to play and we learned a little waltz. The town does this every month during the summer.

Todd is one year older and wiser too . . .

Look at ALL that Smoke!! and that was just a few candles!!

The kids were rubbing Todd's head for good luck.

Happy Birthday to you!! We were able to visit Todd's parents the day before Todd's birthday on Sunday the 3rd. His mom was feeling better and they had alot of leftovers from the reunion so we were happy tp help out! We had yummy lasagna and fruit salad and pie. Thanks mom and dad! We had a great time. We actually had a couple of the boys' friends with us - Andrew and Josh. Their parents were a on a trip and we had them staying with us. It was fun to show them the deer that come into the yard at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

On Monday night Todd had band practice but we did all have dinner together, FHE, and have Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cake -a family traditional favorite. He got his few presents early - again more camping stuff. -That has been his thing for awhile. Tuesday Todd and I went out together for dinner and that was nice.
Also, a quick birthday shout out for several others in this past week - Andi, Shannon, Ralph, Quinton and KeriLyn!!

Brandon's going to Mesa!

More details later --anyhow, Brandon is now moving from the little pond to a big sea -Aug 11. We have to go to the school to finish registration and get his picture for his ID. Of course he had to get a huge scab on his chin at Scout camp -still there - yeah - nice ---

Brandon goes to Boy Scout Camp

While we were at SilverCreek - see below - Brandon had a fantastic time at Boy Scout Camp. He has pictures on a disposable camera that I still need to develop. I missed him SO MUCH!! We all did. We were so proud Brandon being a good boy and making good choices. Im so grateful that we can trust him in those types of situations. He earned 5 merit badges - swimming, canoeing, rifles, Soil and Water Conservation, and Wildlife. He also got the Polar Penguin badge - jumping in the lake every early morning. Todd was there for most of the week. All in all it was a big success. Besides being with his 5 friends from the ward - Tyler, Joey, Christian, Andrew and Noah, He was so excited to be able to see one of his best buddies -Calvin. He lives up north. They have been friends since they were babies.
