mo tab choir

Todd and I met up with Todd's parents on Monday June 29th for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Concert at Red Rocks. I guess it was part of our anniversary celebration. We got there really early and got great parking and even got to hear the choir practice. We got up close for that which was great because our $25 seats were fairly high up! We still had a great view in the middle and the accoustics were incredible. What an incredible venue as well! We brought a Subway picnic and had an unofficial tail gating party as the dignitaries passed though the parking lot!!
Right before the concert I told Todd to go get his water bottle filled. He thought that I was being bossy but then he came back after kind of sheepishly. He was in the visitors center and saw Pres Monson coming out of the elevator. Todd was about 20 ft away!! We sat next to our bishop and his wife and saw many people from our ward and stake. It was a wonderful experience!!

Todd

Todd had his shoulder surgery a few weeks ago and was doing ok - went back to work and all, but he never did feel at the level he should have. He thought it was asthma and first - went to the Dr and she wanted to to take xrays and blood. She thought that it was Post Op Pnemonia. So he was on very strong antibiotics for several days. Then we got the blood tests back and the numbers were WAY high. She wanted him to go get a CAT scan right away. That was Monday.
We waited in the office to find out the results - A pulminary embolism - blood clot in the lung with some damange already to the lung tissue. We went to the hospital right away. They thought at first that we may be able to go home and do all of the blood thinners at home but they decided to keep him one night and then a second so that I could learn how to do the shots in the stomach - Lovenox. He doesnt want to do it to himself. I dont blame him. I came in at 8:45 am and now we are just waiting for the Dr to check him and be discharged. We hoped it would not take so long - but this seems to usually happen. It takes FOREVER to get discharged. He will have the shots for a few more days and then have daily or so blood tests and then be on Coumedin - a blood thinner for at least 6 months. I brought in his razor today so he could shave --not thinkng that that will be a big no no becuse of a possible nick. I can see it now - Cause of Death - shaving. Sorry - that wasnt so funny. It has been a long few days. So I guess he gets a new electric razor from the Easter Bunny.
The kids have been great. I have been so grateful that they are old enough to watch themselves for short periods of time. Brandon is so responsible. We have had such great neighbors, friends, ward members home teachers who gave a blessing the 1st night and his name is in quite a few temples. We feel so blessed for that and just the fact that he is still here. He really was a walking time bomb.
Thank you ALL for your thoughts, prayers, notes and calls. It has helped both Todd -and me get through this. So many of you have offered your help. We will take you up onit if and when we need to - for those of you who we dont call on, please know that we do just really appreciate your offer!

Valentines Weekend
Christen at her Valentines Class party.
The boys gave Christen an early birthday gift - a Webkins Love Monkey.
Friday night we had a great time at the Stk Sweetheart Ball. The Activities commitee do such an incredible job with the planning, decorations, food, everything. It was AWESOME. We brought our friends and neighbors, Dave and Denise and they loved it too
We enjoyed the dance instruction - even though we didnt catch on as well as some of the couples! I had told not to get me flowers so instead we went to the movies with the kids. Pink Panther 2 --I know, I know Keri - I guess it is our thing.
I actually was glad that I was in a good mood by Friday night. I was kind of a rough week and then Todd came home all stressed and announced in all of the confusion with the kids and making dinner -- " We are moving to San Antonio!" I looked at him - not sure if he was serious or not - and then he said, "no, but it was really close." I was mad because you just dont joke around about a big decision like that and you dont just announce it like that!! I guess they are closing several of the regional offices - Sacramento, Florida and Virginia. So those people can chose from Phoenix, Colo Springs or a severence package. I guess we were lucky this time. - although I do like San Antonio though. Im glad we are staying for now. I finally forgave him. He never did make a big move like that growing up, where I moved around alot. I guess he didnt know how to handle it.

A great day
I had a great day. I got the kids off to school and laughed for awhile at the Anita Renfroe clips. Then I went to the temple. I actually like going by myself. I have more time to concentrate and contemplate. The grounds are always so beautiful I wish that I had brought my camera because it was different that even a few months ago. Anyhow. I did see a woman that I admire so much and have the utmost respect for. I actually knew that she was going with some of her own ward friends. I had set up to meet her after and talk about some Primary/ scout stuff. It was so peaceful to be there and then so nice to spend some time with Diane.
When I got home Brandon and I went to the grocery store - a much needed trip -- and we got to visit. It has been nice to have some alone time with him before the other two come home. He is adjusting fine to the new school but the first few days were kind of rough. Mainly meeting new kids. He had 2 friends that he knew on his team. I told him that he had to meet someone new each day and report back to me - which he has done.
At 5 PM Todd and I had made a date to meet to go to the Taste of Douglas County together. They have it at the fairgrounds and probably 30 or more restaurants come in to bring samples of their foods. You just walk around from place to place eating all varieties of stuff form ribs and pizza, to steak and chocolate (not mixed) It has to be fun!!
Anyway, it was nice to be together for a while. We have really started enjoying our short cheap outings together just to visit. Todd had band practice after that and Brandon and I did pre -Algebra homework. It is a fairly early for me but I think I will read for awhile and go to bed. Todd and the boys are going on a 14er camping/hiking trip tomorrow afternoon so it is just Christen and me this weekend.

Happy Anniversary to us!!

This picture above is why we had a simple anniversary this year!!

It really is hard to imagine that it has been 15 years for us!! - Although as we watched our wedding videos -a tradition that I make Todd and anyone available endure each year we can tell that the years have past! We looked SO much younger, skinnier, and for Todd, much fuller hair on top. When Todd picked up the flowers, Brandon was with him and he wanted Todd to get the orange flowers. Funny. We did go out for the evening to Applebees and Coldstone. We had gift cards which was good since the before mentioned orange flower lover now has some new hardware that we are paying for!!The Great Sand Dunes
Here we are at the visitors center. Todd and Christen actually climbed pretty far up the dunes. We had fun playing in Medano Creek after we climbed.
Dancing Christen
Christen just had a recital with her group and did a great job!

One more of the temple visit. Every kid loves the fountain!
