Trevor's Busy Night

Last night Trevor had a band concert. He did a great job. His new band director plays the trombone so that is very cool for Trevor. As soon as that was over we raced over to the church for Trevor's last Pinewood Derby. He worked really hard on the car and he got some great tips from our home teacher. Good enough tips I guess to have him win 1st place out of all of the Webelos and went on to the final. I think he got 3rd or 4th in that. I had to leave to go to the stk center for a meeting so I didnt catch the results. On our way to the church Trevor said that we need to have another brother so that we can go to more Pinewood Derbies. I told him he would have to wait for his own kids. By the way his car was shaped like a Subway sandwich --$5 footlong! Everyone else went for the traditional racecar. Where is their creativity?

Yesterday my new presidency went out to lunch to Pegasus-one of my favorites. Three of us had birthdays in January. We also had to celebrate getting throught the month successfully. It has been SO BUSY with ward conferences, scout trainings, visits with ward presidencies and other things. It has been all good. We have a busy Feb and April with more conferences. I also found out that I have been assigned to be the Cub Day Camp Registrar. Funny because last year I really thought it would be my last with day camp. Luckily, I will have alot of help.
Anyhow we had a fun time together trying to visit about other stuff besides Primary. They are great ladies and we have a lot of fun together too.

A big surprise

This past Friday Brandon had the day off of school. Trevor and Christen did have school, so it was a nice time for Brandon and I to bond for awhile. I had left my purse in Todd's car so that was a bit of a bummer, but we grabbed some cash from the house and drove (carefully - as to not get a ticket without my licence) to do some errands. We went to the library, a few other places and on to Walmart.

By then we had $6. I needed to get some face washing wipes there. Funny how when you go to Walmart and you only need like one or two things but then you end up with all sorts of stuff in your cart. Well, we were a bit limited so we got the face wipes and they were $5.97 for the double pack. No big deal usually but I realized that we wouldn't have enough with tax. I had Brandon go out to the car to look for some change. It took him awhile so I put the wipes down and went out to the car. After scrounging around for quite awhile we came up with around 22 cents but we needed 42 cents -- I had checked. Feeling defeated, pathetic and poor we decided to just go home.

As we were going home Brandon was reading a Garfield comic book from the library. He grabbed a paper that was in there from before as a bookmark. As he pulled it out to mark his spot I realized that it wasn't just a piece of paper, but an envelope. It wasn't just a plain envelope, but it had some money in it! First, I pulled out a $20. Then, I pulled out another $20. THEN, I pulled out a $50!! Brandon said, "wow I've never even seen a $50 bill before! By this time we were beside ourselves, laughing and high fiving and amazed because we were just 2 minutes ago searching for another 25 cents and there we had all this money we didn't know about! It ended up being $101!!

So then after the shock wore off a bit we realized that someone must be missing that much money. We decided we should call the library and they could track down the last borrower. We called and then they called the other person and called us back. Sure enough it was missing. Brandon took the money to the library on Saturday. The librarian said that if they didn't come to pick it up in a few days they would call us back. It was a good lesson. Brandon said that he though that we would get points to got to the Celestial Kingdom for doing the right thing. A point for each dollar. That would be nice!

Last night we had an early dinner at Red Robin. I had a good day and look forward to a few more outings with friends. Thanks for all of your well wishes! I pointed out the placard on the table to the kids that Red Robin is as old as I am!

Hotel for Dogs

The kids and I went to Hotel for Dogs on Monday when they had school off. We loved it. I guess maybe you have to like dogs to enjoy it but we thought it was really fun.

Over the Hill

Tomorrow I turn 40! I have had a little crisis about this for awhile but I am actually feeling pretty good about myself and where I am at right now. There is much to improve on but I really had a bad year 5 years ago and things are much better now. I was gone ALL day on Sunday for 2 different ward conferences and while I was gone Todd and the kids prepared a surprise party and I was sure surprised! We had a great dinner and dessert with Todd's parents coming down too. They did a ward fireside in our ward that evening about their mission in So Africa. They did a fabulous job.

Less of me

Yea! I have lost 15.4 lbs total! That's my early bday gift to me!

--And we have a new President of the United States of America. It was pretty exciting to watch the innaguration today. I didnt vote for him, but now hope the best for him and our country.

Chill in the Air

So I woke up a little chilly after I got out of bed. Went downstairs. Thermostat said 56 degrees. Cold air coming from the vents. Great. HMMM. It was warm today so that was nice and Todd was home in the am to check things out. We hope the repairman tomorrow can repair the furnace instead of replacing it. We will see. . .

Luckily, it was a repair not a replace --not quite as expensive at least

Not just a regular Tuesday

This past Tuesday Todd and the boys skipped work and school and went skiing. They had a great day and it was beautiful outside. Trevor has a free pass this year for being a 5th grader and the others had gem pass discounts. Anyhow, they all did really well.

Christen didnt go this time but I did take her out for lunch during school and then she and I went to a 4:30 showing of Tale of Despereau. It was a cute movie. Afterwards we called they boys to see if they were on their way home. Well, they were on their way home alright - via Sky Ridge - the local hospital!!
I really thought that they were joking at first when they said that. But appaerently Todd only had one fall at the end of the day (hit a rock) and dislocated his right shoulder! This happens every once in awhile to him. It actually hasn't happened since his fall off the roof. I guess when he falls it is hard! Usually he can actually pop it back in himself , but not this time. The ski patrol was not too helpful and Todd ended up driving 2 plus hrs to get home - with his arm very still. Christen and I met him at the ER and we had our home teacher, Carl came to pick up one of the cars.

Crazy. At least he doesnt need emergency surgery, however he will be having surgery in the next few months to have the ligaments tightened. This will be after Christen's baptism March 7th - because he will need that arm and handfor that! The last baptism we had - Trevor's - Todd had a broken arm wrapped in a plastic bag!!

So there you go!

ER Visit

not a great pic - they had a disposible camera. Anyhow there was a life flight helecopter back there. He didnt use it but it looked cool.

Happy New Year!

For New Years Eve we had our friends Dave and Denise over. That day we went to see Bedtime Stories - great movie - and then enjoyed the Wii and playing the game Dangerous Book for Boys Game. We just got it after Dave and Denise had gotten the book Dangerous Book for Boys for Brandon and Trevor. Great book and great game!!

A few days later we had some friends over for FHE. They will be moving in the near future which will be very sad. Stephanie and I visit teach together and their oldest daughter Lexie plays the trombone. Of course Todd had to conduct a little jam session. They were playing the Star Wars theme song and Christian and Dawson were having a great time playing light sabers to the music!

Bragging rights

I already wrote about this on Facebook - but I just have to report that over the holidays no less - I have lost 10.2 lbs, checking in at Weight Watchers this morning. Now I just have to keep going. Getting to my college/post mission / pre wedding weight may be too much to ask for but it would be nice to get close!
