First Day of School

This year my 3 children are going to 3 different schools. Brandon is a freshman at DCHS, Trevor is a 7th grader at a different middle school - Mesa - and Christen is in 4th grade - same school but without her brothers for the first time. Sigh... where does the time go? It is exciting but sad for me too. The first day everyone is gone I get lonely - especially at lunchtime. Brandon and Trevor started Monday and Christen not until Thurday so that made it a bit easier. Brandon starts seminary next week. Another wow!!
They all seem to be adjusting fine and meeting new friends and appreciate the old ones they see and have classes with this year. On Sunday morning Todd gave the kids fathers blessings as usual. It was a really neat experience. This is a tradition for us - but it seemed extra special this time. He gave me a blessing too. Then, in Relief Society we had a lesson on the priesthood. Todd and I have our moments and he drives me CRAZY sometimes -- BUT, I was so thankful to him for preparing for this and for honoring his priesthood. I am very blessed. He mentioned later that the things that were said really were what Heavenly Father wanted.

First Day of School

Brandon started school on Monday (8th gr) Brandon was a bit disappointed what he got home because he wasnt with many of his friends and they also split up the band class so he wasnt with some of those people either. However, he feels now like he will survive. Everyday I tell him to meet one or two new people and tell me about them. Yesterday afternoon I told him to meet 3 people for today. He then said, - "that is too many!!" Poor kid! He is doing better and even wants to run for Student Council Treasurer.

Trevor is in 6th gr - middle school where he is. He is doing just fine and didnt seem to bothered by the changes of moving around classes etc. He has the teachers that Brandon had so that is good.
Christen has a new teacher for 3rd gr who just moved here from Georgia. We were hoping for either of the other teachers but I think it will be fine. She had a good day yesterday and has quite a few friends in her class.
I dont feel pressured to be a room mom this year -- so Im not going to be!! Hopefully, I still will substitute every once in a while. I especially missed the kids as I ate my lunch alone yesterday! We needed maybe one more week of summer!

First Day of School

So -- here we go -- another school year. Hard to believe. We have had a great summer. The kids had a great day. I was the most worried about Brandon. This was a big change for him. Funny as it sounds, even getting on the bus as a "regular" was a new thing. I was so worried about him through the day. He ended up doing just fine of course. He has several friends on his bus, in several classes and a few to sit with during lunch.

Trevor and Christen had a good day too. Most of it was familiar to them with teachers that we have had before and friends in their classes that they are happy to have.

I had a nice first day back - going to exercise and then visiting and having lunch with my good friend Leslie. Maybe I will clean the house tomorrow . . .

It's Fall!

I love fall!! It is my favorite time of year. Unfortunately, this season doesnt last too long because it usually starts to snow around Halloween. The kids are doing great in school. There are all together because they attend a K - 8th. Brandon is in 6th - middle school. Trevor is in 4th and has a male teacher this year. Christen is in first grade and loves everything about school. Her teacher's brother in law plays for the Broncos so that is cool - although right now we are excited for the Rockies doing so well! Who knew ??

The boys are both in band this year at school playing trombone and Todd also actually has joined our town band!! He has had a great time with his new - old hobby. he has already had a few concerts. Todd and I have also recently taken a dance class together - the west Coast Swing. It was much more fun than we expected! Christen has started up her dance class again as well.

Here we are at the visitors center. Todd and Christen actually climbed pretty far up the dunes. We had fun playing in Medano Creek after we climbed.
