pumpkin carving

We were a little late this year on the Halloween prep since we were on our trip and also missed the ward trunk or treat. We finally carved pumpkins but now they are buried in the snow outside. Christen wanted to do her own so she did - she ended up with a big hole in the middle. Good thing we had the princess potato head decorations to add. Then she wasnt so upset.

Halloween

This year I told the kids we were not going to buy any costumes. They had plenty to choose from in the basement or swap with whoever. Trevor ended up winning a prize at the trunk or trreat for being the most creative/taking the most time for a costume in his age group. He was a bag of trash! Christen used a furry dog costume that we were given a long time ago but no one has actually used yet, and Brandon did a great job putting together a spy costume with Todd's mission overcoat, a hat from grandpa and silly glasses along with a maginfying glass and note pad. I told Todd he should go as Joe the Plumber but he didnt. We now have tons of candy and I am having a hard time not eating all the good chocolate. Trevor ate so much at the school party that he actually did throw up! I helped out with Chistens class party and it ws really fun. Today as a nice Sunday activity we played poker betting with all the candy. -nice huh?

Christen the Chef

Christen's version

Cookbook version

The other day Christen wanted to make a dessert all by herself. Usually, I have to help her but she found a no bake recipe from a fun kids cookbook. We got all of the stuff and she went for it. It turned out great - and very fun and seasonal. We were proud of her and she was proud of herself!!

Graveyard Pudding Dessert

1 tub cool whip 12 oz
1 pkg crushed oreos.

Make the pudding and then mix the cool whip in. gently stir n 1/2 of the crushed cookies. spoon into 9x13 pan and sprinkle with the rest of the crushed cookies. Decorate with candy corn, pumpkins and cookies. Refrigerate for an hour. 15 servings

Here we are at the visitors center. Todd and Christen actually climbed pretty far up the dunes. We had fun playing in Medano Creek after we climbed.
